What we offer!

We take a holistic view of the child and look at where the brain needs to develop to execute certain motor functions and address the weaknesses between the brain and body. We also address retained primitive reflexes which if still present after 2 years can interfere with a child’s scholastic abilities. All motor function are steered by the brain.

We look at proprioception, bilateral integration, crossing midline skills, muscle strengths and weaknesses, balance and core strength, muscle control, primitive reflexes, the vestibular balance system, eye tracking skills and nutrition.

By focusing on every child’s individual strengths and weaknesses we can establish strong neuro pathways to assist with their concentration and learning. We can build strong muscles and balance to help keep their bodies up and develop good posture.

Reflexes

If primitive reflexes are still retained or any body-brain connections weren’t fully developed, you will see a child struggling in school. They will struggle to keep their bodies up, struggle to sit still, struggle to copy from the board, reading difficulties, clumsiness, handwriting difficulties etc. One will also see more severe things like toe walking, constant biting or sucking of things, meltdowns/anxiety, fight/flight/freeze responses, stimmimg, tics, sensory seeking/avoidance, bad posture, fear of catching a ball, difficulties riding a bike, difficulties swimming etc.

By using the bottom up approach, starting at the bottom of the child’s brain (brain stem, cerebellum) and illuminating obstacles and working our way up by addressing retained reflexes, in order to reach the prefrontal cortex where cognitive thinking and learning takes place.

Focus

  • We focus on breathing and movements to help children with anxiety by assisting their nervous systems.
  • We believe that healthy eating and lessening the toxic load is vital for their growing bodies and minds.
  • Our pilates classes will benefit all kids and especially those with ADD/HD, Dyslexia, Autism spectrum and concentration issues.
  • We work directly wil individuals or on referrals from Occupational and Physio therapists.

A bit about me!

As a neurodiverse adult with ADD and dyslexia and bad posture from a back injury, I tried to navigate myself. I started pilates to improve my posture and build a good core. The results were amazing. I found myself doing things I weren’t able to do for a very long time. I trained as a pilates instructor and started working with children. Having children who are neurodiverse, I stumbled upon the impact retained primitive reflexes can have on children’s development. I was also stunned in how simple movements are able to assist children physically and both mentally.

Bottom line MOVEMENT HEALS!!!
